Mayor’s Welcome

On behalf of my fellow Commissioners and all the residents of the Borough of Longport, New Jersey, I wish you a hearty southern New Jersey “Welcome”.

Our beautiful Borough is located in Atlantic County at the southern most tip of Absecon Island. Absecon Island consists of the City of Atlantic City, the City of Ventnor, the City of Margate and the Borough of Longport. We are about a 65 minute drive to Philadelphia, a 2½ hour drive to New York City and just 15 minutes from downtown Atlantic City.

We are primarily a residential community with a blend of older, quaint seashore homes as well as breath-taking modern, shore-styled houses. Our beautiful, sandy white beaches are well maintained and easily accessible to all. We have maintained some breathtaking older buildings and have combined those with a great blend of modern architecture. We are technically considered a peninsula bordered by the City of Margate, the Great Egg Harbor Bay and the majestic Atlantic Ocean.

All of this makes for a great place to relax, dine, and totally enjoy our wonderful natural resources.
